This is a 15 day challenge following the #AffirmationChallenge at Personal Excellence.
The hardest part of a journey is right before the success. The moment when Prince Charming sees the castle and the dragon he must fight. Or, when Dorothy was challenged to get the broomstick of the Wicked Witch of the West. It’s that one task that is right in front of our eyes, but is always just out of reach.
Growing up I wanted to be a nun, a teacher, a jockey, a nurse, a real estate agent, a writer, and a bookstore or antique store owner. I am a writer, but I never finished that novel. It’s still in pieces on my computer and in my mind, but until I finished an important part of me, I couldn’t finish it.
I also wanted to have an antique shop. This is something I remembered just the other night.
I was told, not long ago, to do one thing at a time. Complete a project. Master it. Then, do the next. But, what if something happens and I never get to start the antique shop before I finish the story? Not to mention the novel isn’t the writing that pays my bills.
See where that thinking leads to? Luckily, I am ahead of this affirmation. My task THIS WEEK is studying antiques. Books, Newsletters, LinkedIn groups, Follow antique and historical profiles on Twitter. I also have a set schedule to research Greek myths for one story or rewrite at least one chapter for that unfinished novel. Deadline is this weekend. It’s one chapter. A small feat. But, it’s a start.
